The Story behind Elec-Tro-Bytes

For some time now, we at Volhard Nutrition wanted to put together a treat that was healthy, nutritious and highly palatable.  In conversations with our clinical nutritionist, we decided on having a treat that contained electrolytes, healthy ingredients, and one that would tempt almost any dog.  The ingredients we have chosen also combat stress, help to prevent diarrhea in nervous dogs, is an appetite stimulant and replenishes the electrolytes that are lost in training or exercising.

What makes Elec-Tro-Bytes different and unique in the treat market is that they contain electrolytes.  Electrolytes are what cells use to carry nerve impulses across themselves and other cells.  Nerve impulses and muscle contractions can only occur properly when the electrolyte concentration is correct in the body. Either through sweating, panting, vomiting or extreme stress, valuable electrolytes are lost. It is why so many dogs suffer from heat prostration and Sporting breeds experience exercise intolerance which causes temporary paralysis. That is why so many sports drinks for humans contain electrolytes.  Since we at Volhard Nutrition work our dogs and also exercise them well, we are very aware of the consequences of over heating and over exercising dogs.  It was critical to us in thinking about the manufacture of a unique treat that electrolytes be included. We travel with our dogs and it’s good to know we have a highly palatable tool to use if the dogs get stressed in a new environment, or they are affected by the heat and don’t want to eat. The electrolytes are - salt, potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, monosodium phosphate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium sulfate.

Ingredients: buckwheat flour, brewers yeast, safflower oil, lecithin, natural chicken flavor, salt, potassium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, monosodium phosphate, magnesium carbonate, magnesium sulfate.

These treats are grain-free (buckwheat flour comes from the seed of the buckwheat plant which is not a grain).
